“A vocation is your identity, but while a job is a part of your identity, it is not the whole of who you are. The mindset shift from vocation to job doesn’t mean becoming less passionate but simply learning to center yourself first and the community second, which permits you to set boundaries.”

-Chanda Causer

With over 20 years of experience in management coaching, strategy, and organizing, Chanda Causer and trusted collaborators work with leaders to discuss best practices, probe ideas, and promote accountability. Leaders, especially women, need intentional time to think and fellowship with others.

We provide a space for you to build or reevaluate your North Star and explore succession planning. Your North Star is a strategy for succession planning and setting key benchmarks to align you with your personal and professional goals. Often, when people seriously consider succession planning, it's too late. Top talent has cycled in and out of the organization, and you may no longer have the mental capacity to transition easily and celebrate accomplishments.

As I shared in my article for the Hollowed Prize for Leaders of Color, women, especially women of color, ascend to leadership positions that may be flawed. It is up to you to determine if you are in a storm that you can weather the rough seas or if the playing field has been burned and doused in salt, and nothing can grow from you, but we will help you make that determination.

If this feels like a space you need, I invite you to join us June 6 - 8, 2025, in Leanoardtown, MD, at Camp Maria Retreat Center, for a camp-style experience on the waterfront. The facility provides a pool, access to the bay, kayaks, and walking trails. The vibe is peaceful, with comfortable accommodations that are surrounded by nature. Come comfy, cozy, and ready to dig into the real work of what’s next for your career and legacy.

DEADLINE is May 12, 2025.
Fee: $1,300 - includes lodging and some meals.

We will help you dig into thorny issues, like:

1. Examine or re-examine the current health of the team or organization.

2. Strategize for the task and get the resources and support you need for success.

3. Failure in leadership is an option, and we can help you think through how to exit.

4. Learn the difference between a vocation and a job and set boundaries accordingly. If you are reaching burnout, resetting your thinking about approaching work may be in order.

5. Do it anyway. Sometimes you have to do hard things, and like Dory the fish, we can coach you how to “just keep swimming.”

  • Terrysa Guerra Co-Executive Director at United for Respect/EF

“Attending the Executive Women in Leadership workshop was an invaluable experience. It provided a unique opportunity to deeply reflect on my own leadership style, explore the core motivations behind why I lead, and set meaningful leadership goals for the legacy I want to leave behind. The workshop created a safe and supportive space for vulnerability, where I was able to connect with like-minded non-profit leaders from across the country, and learn from coaches with profound expertise in executive leadership.”

  • Elena Gaarder MCCD Chief Executive Officer

“The retreat provided a much-needed place to pause and recall why I lead. Maybe, more importantly, I realized that I don’t need to.. I now have a strategy, and when I am ready, I know how to exit thoughtfully.”
